Third Eye - Augmented reality meets multitouch

By blending two currently blossoming technologies, multitouch and augmented reality, we are developing a system that aids learning by displaying lifelike holographic three dimensional models followed by relative information and aural feedback, enabling young ones to learn in the most natural way, and even experience things they cannot find in their surroundings. Third Eye is a system dedicated to improving the quality of education, research and communication. Consisting of three segments: augmented reality glasses connected to client computers, which interpret the screen to create adequate 3D objects for the wearer to see; multitouch table, which provides an intuitive "touch" user interface, allowing easy manipulation of shown objects; and a remote cloud system that provides both the knowledge base and the application, available worldwide. As an expansion of this project augmented reality clients for mobile phones are also being developed, therefore allowing for the widest possible distribution and availability of the system.
